MAT 155 - Contemporary College Math 4 Credit(s)
This course satisfies the general education requiremnt for the AA degree. Topics include: inductive and deductive reasoning, set theory, Venn diagrams, truth tables and logic, Geometry and Trigonnometry, sequences and series, mathematics of finance, probability, statistics, and applications. This course is recommeneded for non-STEM majors.
Prereqs: MAT 121 with a grade of C or better or placement into MAT 155 or MAT 098 or MAT 105 with a grade of A. CLO 2) Students will read, interpret, analyze, and synthesize quantitative data (e.g., graphs, tables, statistics, survey data, etc.) and make reasoned estimates and inferences.
CLO 3) Students will use mathematical models to solve problems involving logarithms and financial formulas.
CLO 4) Students will solve problems using set notation and Venn diagrams.
CLO 5) Students will analyze a logical argument by using truth tables.
CLO 6) Students will solve problems using geometry and trigonometry.
CLO 7) Students will solve problems using counting techniques and probability.
