NUR 116 - Advanced Professional Nursing Across the Lifespan I Lab

Builds on knowledge gained in NUR 112 . Students demonstrate knowledge of and ability to safely and accurately perform nursing skills in a safe learning environment using multimedia, textbooks, self-direction, demonstrations and lab staff assistance. Included: Vital signs, mobility, medication administration, injections, sterile gloving/personal protective equipment, ostomy care, gastric tubes, IV fluid administration, Foley catheter insertion, and intermediate medication math.

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will demonstrate proficiency in the following nursing skills: venipuncture, wound care, prioritization, respiratory suction and tracheostomy care, communication regarding patient needs using the SBAR model, and skills from the previous term.
CLO 2) Students will incorporate theoretical nursing knowledge into the hands-on application of nursing skills using the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model.
CLO 3) Students will demonstrate proficiency in intermediate medication mathematics skills and medication administration.
