WLD 221 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding II **

This course expands on the techniques learned in WLD 121. Advanced welding techniques in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) required of AWS Advanced level welders will be covered. Students will have an opportunity to sit for the American Welding Society (AWS) certifications tests. Students will be awarded the certificate if successful on the exams.

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will define and describe the hazards associated with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) in the lab environment.

CLO 2) Students will define and describe the importance of the PPE required for FCAW welding.

CLO 3) Students will describe and define the importance of Ventilation systems.

CLO 4) Students will prepare, fabricate and weld coupons for a practical exam which may include destructive testing to insure a sound weld.
