MDA 103 - Foundations & Administrative Procedures 3 Credit(s)
The role and scope of practice of the medical assistant and other members of the healthcare team is introduced. Professionalism and communication techniques are covered throughout the course. Additionally, the course will address basic medical office procedures, billing and reimbursement practices.

CLO 2) Students will employ appropriate communication skills with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
CLO 3) Students will engage in professional conduct in all aspects of patient care, including respecting cultural differences and age-group specific responses.
CLO 4) Students will identify billing practices for a medical office.
CLO 5) Students will identify coding systems and apply diagnosis and procedure codes to insurance claims.
CLO 6) Students will execute various systems and procedures in medical office management.
