MDA 104 - Introduction to Clinical Medical Assisting 3 Credit(s)
Students gain foundational knowledge to safely and accurately perform medical assisting clinical skills. Students will learn procedures to prevent the transmission of infectious pathogens, steps to accurately record and measure vital signs, medical dosage calculation, and medication administration.
Co-reqs: MDA 103 & MDA 114 Course Type: Combo Tuition Tier: Tier I Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will employ proper documentation procedures, adhering to standard charting guidelines.
CLO 2) Students will identify procedures that prevent transmission of infectious pathogens.
CLO 3) Students will identify the steps to accurately record and measure vital signs, recognizing normal and abnormal readings.
CLO 4) Students will describe routes of medication administration.
CLO 5) Students will calculate and document proper dosages, including conversions.
CLO 6) Students will prepare and assist with a physical examination, including understanding the use of different methods of examination.
CLO 7) Students will employ proper surgical aseptic techniques.
CLO 8) Students will differentiate among sanitization, disinfection, and sterilization procedures.
