MAT 157S - College Statistics - General Education with Supplement 5 Credit(s)
This course satisfies the general education requirement for the AA degree. Topics include constructing and interpreting graphs, descriptive statistics, sampling techniques, counting techniques, probability, probability distributions, confidence interval estimates, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and ANOVA. This course is recommended for non-STEM majors.
Prereqs: Placement into MAT 157S or a grade of C or higher in MAT 098 or MAT 105 . Course Type: Combo Tuition Tier: Base Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will analyze data using graphical and numerical methods to study patterns and departures from patterns, using appropriate technology as needed.
CLO 2) Students will critically evaluate a data-collection plan to answer a given research question.
CLO 3) Students will use probability concepts.
CLO 4) Students will use statistical models to draw conclusions from data.
CLO 5) Students will use simple linear regression to model the relationship between two continuous variables and to draw conclusions from data.
