ELE 130 - Grounding & Bonding **

This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of grounding and bonding principles as applied to residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems. Students will explore the purpose, design, and installation of grounding and bonding systems to ensure electrical safety, equipment protection, and code compliance. Emphasis is placed on interpreting the National Electrical Code (NEC), identifying proper materials and methods, and performing hands-on installations and inspections. Through classroom instruction and lab-based practice, students will gain the skills necessary to implement effective grounding and bonding strategies in real-world electrical projects. All students will have the opportunity to earn NC3 Greenlee certification

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will explain the purpose and function of grounding and bonding in electrical systems.

CLO 2) Students will distinguish between system grounding, equipment grounding, and bonding requirements.

CLO 3) Students will interpret NEC articles related to grounding and bonding, including Article 250 and related sections.

CLO 4) Students will identify and install grounding electrodes, conductors, and bonding jumpers according to code.

CLO 5) Students will perform continuity and resistance tests to verify proper grounding and bonding connections.

CLO 6) Students will inspect and evaluate existing grounding and bonding systems for compliance and safety.
