IT 235 - Automation & Configuration Management ** 3 Credit(s)
This course introduces students to IT automation and configuration management with a primary focus on Ansible. Students will learn to automate system administration tasks, manage infrastructure as code, and deploy scalable, repeatable configurations across enterprise environments. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on labs, and project-based assessments, students will gain practical skills in modern automation tools and apply their knowledge to real-world cloud infrastructure scenarios-as well as preparing them to take the Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
Prereqs: IT 230 Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier I Delivery Method: In-Person, Remote Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will apply automation techniques using Ansible to manage system configurations and administrative tasks across enterprise environments.
CLO 2) Students will develop Ansible playbooks to implement scalable and repeatable infrastructure solutions.
CLO 3) Students will discuss infrastructure as code principles and their role in modern IT and DevOps workflows.
CLO 4) Students will evaluate best practices for configuration management, including version control, modular design, and error handling.
CLO 5) Students will implement automation tools and concepts to support cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure environments.
CLO 6) Students will solve real-world IT challenges through project-based assignments, applying critical thinking, adaptability, and technical proficiency.
