This course is a compilation of pre-service teacher’s portfolio of artifacts, observations, descriptions, and reflections upon their studies in professional education as required by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education mid-preparation benchmarks of the Teacher Candidate/MIPEC standards.

Prereqs: EDU 212, EDU 222, EDU 240, EDU 247, & EDU 250 with a grade of C or better.

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will understand the central concepts, structures, and tools of inquiry of the discipline(s) and creates learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful and engaging for all students. (MTS/MIPEC 1)

CLO 2) Students will understand how students learn, develop and differ in their approaches to learning. The pre-service teacher provides learning opportunities that are adapted to all diverse learners and support the intellectual, social, and personal development of all students. (MTS/MIPEC 2)

CLO 3) Students will recognize the importance of long-range planning and curriculum development. The pre-service teacher develops, implements, and evaluates curriculum based upon student, district, and state standards data. (MTS/MIPEC 3)

CLO 4) Students will use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to encourage their student’s critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills. (MTS/MIPEC 4)

CLO 5) Students will use an understanding of individual/group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages active engagement in learning, positive social interaction, and self motivation. (MTS/MIPEC 5)

CLO 6) Students will model effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication techniques with their students, colleagues and families to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom. (MTS/MIPEC 6)

CLO 7) Students will understand and use formative and summative assessment strategies to assess the learner’s progress and uses both classroom and standardized assessment data to plan ongoing instruction. The pre-service teacher monitors the performance of each of their students, and devises instruction to enable students to grow and develop, making adequate academic progress. (MTS/MIPEC 7)
