NPN 161 - Practical Nursing Across the Lifespan II Lab 0 Credit(s)
Builds on knowledge gained in NPN 112 - Practical Nursing Across the Lifespan I Laboratory. Students gain comprehensive knowledge and ability to safely and accurately perform nursing skills in a safe learning environment using multi-media, textbooks, self-direction, demonstrations, and lab staff assistance. Included: venipuncture, central line care, management of blood transfusions, IV push medication administration, respiratory suction and trach care, skills from the previous terms, and advanced medication math. Theory topics are reinforced through hands-on application.
Prereqs: NPN 102 Co-reqs: NPN 151 & NPN 171 Course Type: Lab Tuition Tier: Tier III Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will demonstrate proficiency in the following nursing skills: venipuncture, central line care, management of blood transfusions, IV push medication administration, respiratory suction and trach care, and skills from the previous terms.
CLO 2) Students will demonstrate proficiency in advanced medication mathematics skills and medication administration.
CLO 3) Students will incorporate theoretical nursing knowledge into the hands-on application of nursing skills using the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model.
