NPN 112 - Practical Nursing Across the Lifespan I Laboratory 0 Credit(s)
Builds on knowledge gained in NPN 111 - Fundamentals of Nursing Laboratory. Students gain comprehensive knowledge and ability to safely and accurately perform nursing skills in a safe learning environment using multi-media, textbooks, self-direction, demonstrations, and lab staff assistance. Included: gastrointestinal tubes, injections, ostomy care, IV fluid therapy, urinary catheters, wound care, skills from the previous term, and intermediate medication math. Theory topics are reinforced through hands-on application.
Prereqs: NPN 100 & NPN 101 Co-reqs: NPN 102 & NPN 122 Course Type: Lab Tuition Tier: Tier III Delivery Method: In-person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will demonstrate proficiency in the following nursing skills: gastrointestinal tubes, injections, ostomy care, IV fluid therapy, urinary catheters, wound care, and skills from the previous term.
CLO 2) Students will demonstrate proficiency in intermediate medication mathetmatics skills and medication administration.
CLO 3) Students will incorporate theoretical nursing knowledge into the hands-on application of nursing skills using the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model.
