NPN 100 - Personal & Vocational Concepts

Role of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in relationship to other members of health care team is presented. Includes nursing history, professional ethics, legalities in nursing, and interpersonal relations in today’s health care setting through asynchronous assignments and discussions.

CLO 1) Students will identify ethical and legal aspects of nursing that influence care provided by the practical nurse.
CLO 2) Students will explain nursing history and trends that affected the development of the current role of the practical nurse.
CLO 3) Students will compare and contrast the role of the practical nurse to that of the professional nurse.
CLO 4) Students will describe the role of the practical nurse in the inter-professional approach to client care.
CLO 5) Students will explain quality improvement processes used to evaluate health care and the role of the practical nurse.
CLO 6) Students will identify strategies to enhance the ongoing health and wellbeing of a nurse.
CLO 7) Students will identify strategies the practical nurse can implement to promote clinical judgment and patient safety.
