Students gain comprehensive knowledge and ability to safely and accurately perform nursing skills in a safe learning environment using multi-media, textbooks, self-direction, demonstrations, and lab staff assistance. Included: hygiene, vital signs, personal protective equipment, sterile gloving, mobility, medication administration, fundamental medication math. Theory topics are reinforced through hands-on application.
Prereqs: Admission into the Practical Nursing Program, BIO 260 & BIO 260L Co-reqs: NPN 100 & NPN 101 Course Type: Lab Tuition Tier: Tier III Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will demonstrate proficiency in the following nursing skills: vital sign measurement, mobility, sterile gloving, personal protective equipment, and hygiene.
CLO 2) Students will demonstrate proficiency in fundamental medication mathematics skills and medication administration.
CLO 3) Students will incorporate theoretical nursing knowledge into the hands-on application of nursing skills using the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model.
