NUR 104 - Professional Nursing Across the Lifespan I 11 Credit(s)
Builds on knowledge gained in NUR 103 - Fundamentals of Professional Nursing. Evidence-based nursing knowledge presented will focus on the nursing process encompassing the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of physical and mental health, the prevention of illness for individuals, and growth and development across the lifespan. Engaging and interactive class time, along with assignments and exams, provide emphasis on complex nursing knowledge necessary for the care of individuals with alterations in neurodevelopment, electrolyte and acid-base balance, diabetes, cancer, renal, nutrition, gastrointestinal, and mental health disorders.
Prereqs: NUR 103 & PSY 101 Co-reqs: NUR 114 & NUR 124 Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier III Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will identify the relationship between physiological alterations; selected disease processes; and patient’s values, spirituality, and culture; socioeconomic status; emotional status; developmental stage; age; family dynamics.
CLO 2) Students will utilize knowledge of the nursing process and Clinical Judgment Measurement Model, for patients with neurodevelopmental, cancer, diabetes, nutritional, mental health, selected electrolyte and acid base imbalances, renal or urinary, and gastrointestinal disorders.
CLO 3) Students will apply an evidence-based plan of care, utilizing critical thinking techniques, for patients with neurodevelopmental, cancer, diabetes, nutritional, mental health, selected electrolyte and acid base imbalances, renal or urinary, and gastrointestinal disorders.
CLO 4) Students will identify strategies to reduce risk to patient safety in all healthcare settings across the lifespan.
CLO 5) Students will analyze personal practice of resilient behavior to manage stressors unique to being a healthcare professional.
