OTA 115 - Kinesiology/Functional A & P 0 Credit(s)
Foundation in the biological, physical, and physiological application in the practice of occupational therapy. Students will demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the structure and function of the human body including the musculoskeletal, nervous, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and endocrine systems. Students will apply knowledge for foundational practice skills such as ROM, assessment of muscle control, transfers, vital signs, body mechanics, client positioning and safe handling techniques.
Co-reqs: OTA 105 & OTA 125 Course Type: Lab Tuition Tier: Tier II Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will apply important concepts of human anatomy and physiology to the implementation of foundational occupational therapy practice skills.
CLO 2) Students will identify important structural landmarks in the body and the role these structures play in the assessment and treatment of movement during daily activity.
CLO 3) Students will demonstrate a beginning competency for assessment of anatomical directions, muscular locations, and characteristics of the structures involved in client occupation.
CLO 4) Students will define and demonstrate good safety awareness and body mechanics during assessment and client positioning and handling.
CLO 5) Students will demonstrate a beginning competency for the assessment of vital signs and explain parameters and treatment implications.
CLO 6) Students will clearly articulate and successfully demonstrate all aspects of competency in performing foundational skills.
