This course explores technical science in surgical practice, focusing on information systems, electrical technologies, laser applications, minimally invasive surgical systems, and interventional radiology. This course will include a lab component that will have a hands-on application of content emphasizing information systems, electrical technologies, laser applications, minimally invasive surgical systems, and interventional radiology.
Prereqs: SRT 101 Co-reqs: SRT 113 Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier III Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will explain relevent computer systems, electronic medical records, and protected health information security practices.
CLO 2) Students will apply electrical safety and electrosurgical unit operations by demonstrating technical skills identifying electrical flow principles.
CLO 3) Students will compare laser technologies by discussing biophysical properties, applications, safety considerations, and specific surgical uses.
CLO 4) Students will describe minimally invasive surgical systems including components, applications, advantages, and associated risks.
CLO 5) Students will discuss interventional radiology techniques by examining imaging modalities, procedural considerations, and the surgical technologist’s critical role.
