HVAC 240 - Airflow Fundamentals & Design ** 3 Credit(s)
This course is designed to help students learn about air delivery systems and comfort control. Students will also be instructed on the importance of air quality, how to calculate and achieve proper air distribution, and humidity control. Students will use airflow diagnostic tools to measure and calculate air distribution and quality. Students in this course are eligible to sit for Trane NC3 certifications. Students who are successful in passing the exam will earn certification.
Prereqs: HVAC 120 & HVAC 230 Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier I Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will explain the principles of air movement, pressure, and flow in ducted and non-ducted systems.
CLO 2) Students will describe the relationship between static pressure, velocity pressure, and total pressure in HVAC systems.
CLO 3) Students will explain the impact of air flow on indoor air quality, thermal comfort, and system efficiency.
CLO 4) Students will measure air flow using tools such as anemometers, manometers, flow hoods, and pressure gauges.
CLO 5) Students will interpret airflow data to assess system performance and identify corrective actions.
CLO 6) Students will demonstrate ethical responsibility and attention to detail in all aspects of airflow analysis and system design.
