Supervised clinical experience integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills in surgical technology in simulation and the clinical setting. This course emphasizes observation and beginning application of hands-on patient care and professional competence. Students will complete a minimum of 15 cases primarily as an observer or second scrub.
Prereqs: SRT 103 Co-reqs: SRT 106 & SRT 116 Course Type: Practicum Tuition Tier: Tier III Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will apply beginning surgical technology skills in clinical and simulated environments.
CLO 2) Students will complete a minimum of 15 surgical cases as the first or second scrub demonstrating competence in equipment management and instrumentation handling while following the principles of asepsis in a surgical case.
