SRT 116 - Surgical Techniques I Lab 0 Credit(s)
This laboratory course provides hands-on practice in fundamental surgical technology skills, with emphasis on proper equipment handling, instrumentation management, and sterile technique. Students will engage in practical applications of sterile processing, aseptic technique, and instrument handling in the lab environment. The course focuses on developing proficiency in sterile field maintenance, equipment assembly, instrument identification and handling, and contamination prevention strategies.
Prereqs: SRT 103 Co-reqs: SRT 106 & SRT 126 Course Type: Lab Tuition Tier: Tier III Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will demonstrate proper techniques for sterile processing.
CLO 2) Students will execute accurate identification, assembly, and disassembly of surgical equipment and specialty instruments across multiple surgical specialties.
CLO 3) Students will maintain sterile technique during the preparation, draping, and manipulation of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
