SRT 204 - Surgical Techniques II 12 Credit(s)
This course explores surgical technologist roles throughout preoperative time frame, emphasizing sterile technique, patient preparation, and professional protocols in surgical settings. This course builds on the content learned in Surgical Techniques I. Included in this course is hands-on application in the lab environment to provide practical skills training for surgical technologist procedures and techniques.
Prereqs: SRT 106 Co-reqs: SRT 214 & SRT 224 Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier III Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will explain principles of surgical team protocols, sterile technique, and patient preparation.
CLO 2) Students will describe perioperative documentation and patient safety procedures.
CLO 3) Students will describe surgical counts, gowning, and patient identification processes.
CLO 4) Students will demonstrate sterile technique principles.
CLO 5) Students will demonstrate patient preparation techniques and time-out procedures across diverse surgical scenarios.
CLO 6) Students will demonstrate techniques for establishing and maintaining sterile surgical fields.
