MDA 108 - Procedures in a Clinical Setting 3 Credit(s)
This course will examine blood collection procedures, safety in relation to blood specimen collection, and common laboratory tests. Additionally, students will identify the cardiac cycle with emphasis on abnormal heart rhythms.
Prereqs: MDA 104 Co-reqs: MDA 107 & MDA 118 Course Type: Combo Tuition Tier: Tier I Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will describe common laboratory tests and demonstrate proper patient preparation for each.
CLO 2) Students will classify normal and abnormal values of common laboratory tests.
CLO 3) Students will explain the importance of safety during the collection of blood specimens.
CLO 4) Students will describe the procedure for electrocardiogram, including the ability to identify the cardiac cycle.
CLO 5) Students will identify normal and abnormal heart rhythms and describe emergency response.
CLO 6) Students will demonstrate compliance with quality assurance regulations.
