MDA 118 - Procedures in a Clinical Setting Lab 0 Credit(s)
In this course students will apply what they have learned about blood collection procedures, safety in relation to blood specimen collection, and common laboratory tests. Additionally, students will apply what they have learned about the cardiac cycle with emphasis on abnormal heart rhythms.
Prereqs: MDA 103 & MDA 104 Co-reqs: MDA 108 Course Type: Lab Tuition Tier: Tier I Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will describe common laboratory tests and demonstrate proper patient preparation for each.
CLO 2) Students will demonstrate routine venipuncture and capillary puncture.
CLO 3) Students will classify normal and abnormal values of common laboratory tests.
CLO 4) Students will demonstrate safety during the collection of blood specimens.
CLO 5) Students will demonstrate the procedure for electrocardiogram, including the ability to identify the cardiac cycle.
CLO 6) Students will identify normal and abnormal heart rhythms and describe emergency response.
CLO 7) Students will demonstrate compliance with quality assurance regulations.
