This laboratory course provides comprehensive hands-on training in surgical procedures across multiple specialties, focusing on intraoperative and postoperative techniques. Students will practice advanced sterile field management, wound care procedures, specimen handling, and assistant circulator duties in the lab environments. Through practical application, students will develop proficiency in managing specialized surgical scenarios while maintaining patient safety and surgical integrity. This laboratory component builds upon skills developed in Surgical Techniques II Lab and emphasizes integration of advanced surgical technology principles.
Prereqs: SRT 204 Co-reqs: SRT 205 & SRT 225 Course Type: Lab Tuition Tier: Tier III Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will apply proper techniques for prepping, handling, and positioning instruments and patients across increasingly complex surgical cases.
CLO 2) Students will execute accurate protocols of an assistant circulator.
CLO 3) Students will execute proper safety protocols for various surgical applications with attention on increasingly complex surgical cases.
CLO 4) Students will execute proper PACU transfer protocols and postoperative documentation procedures according to facility standards.
