OTA 205 - Fundamentals of OTA III 13 Credit(s)
Builds on foundational and fundamental skills needed for entry-level occupational therapy practice related to psychosocial, physical, cognitive and pediatrics. Understanding of entry-level competency skills and implementation of OT treatment for demonstrating service competency is emphasized.
Prereqs: OTA 106 , OTA 116 , & OTA 126 with a passing grade (75% or higher for each) Co-reqs: OTA 215 & OTA 225 Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier II Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Students will compare and contrast the roles of the OTA as a direct service provider, educator/manager, and member of a profession in both traditional and emerging areas of practice.
CLO 2) Students will provide effective treatment implementation for clients with neurological, orthopedic, sensory, and psychosocial conditions to enhance occupational performance across various contexts.
CLO 3) Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of a variety of dysfunctions and apply this understanding to inform appropriate treatment planning and intervention.
CLO 4) Students will provide safe and effective examples of occupation-based intervention for clients across all stages of health and disease.
CLO 5) Students will describe common deficits and implement appropriate treatment plans addressing specific performance skills, patterns, and areas of occupation.
CLO 6) Students will select and implement effective treatment activities and educate clients, families, or others to promote health literacy.
CLO 7) Students will describe and implement strategies for health promotion, wellness, prevention, safety, and health maintenance that reflect the distinct value of occupational therapy.
CLO 8) Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of how evidence and evidence-based practice are used in healthcare to support professional and program development.
