OTA 106 - Fundamentals of OTA II 12 Credit(s)
Build on foundation skills needed for OT practice and focuses on fundamental assessment and intervention skills in occupational therapy in psychosocial, physical, cognitive and pediatric dysfunction. Understanding of the OT process of assessment, treatment planning and implementation, transitions and discontinuation of OT services is addressed using the OTPF as a guide.
Prereqs: OTA 105 , OTA 115 , & OTA 125 with a passing grade (75% or higher for each) Co-reqs: OTA 116 & OTA 126 Course Type: Lecture Tuition Tier: Tier II Delivery Method: In-Person Course Learning Outcomes: CLO 1) Student will identify the client factors addressed and the OT assessments and interventions used with common conditions in OT practice.
CLO 2) Student will discuss the role of the OTA in facilitating change for clients in health and wellness programs.
CLO 3) Student will provide examples of OT’s distinct value in prevention & health maintenance.
CLO 4) Student will demonstrate understanding of the role that context and environment plays in occupation and apply OT Code of Ethics, Core Values and Attitudes of Occupational Therapy.
CLO 5) Student will demonstrate the use of clinical reasoning in selecting appropriate interventions for clients based on assessments and understanding of OTPF.
CLO 6) Student will describe the inter/intra-professional interaction in determining and implementing appropriate interventions throughout the continuum of care and articulate the importance of interprofessional collaboration.
CLO 7) Student will demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication as it relates to documentation.
