OTA 116 - Applied A & P in Health & Disease

Continuation of the foundational skills practiced in previous coursework. Students use of meaningful activities as defined by OTPF focusing on performance areas that specifically address performance skills such as sensory motor, cognitive and psychosocial components. Assessment and intervention strategies and techniques that emphasize the use of purposeful activities and occupation to enhance role function will be the focus of practical application of these skills.

Prereqs: OTA 105 , OTA 115 , & OTA 125  with a passing grade (75% or higher for each)
Co-reqs: OTA 106  & OTA 126

Course Learning Outcomes:
CLO 1) Students will apply fundamental knowledge for common conditions in health and wellness as it relates to assessment and intervention in occupational therapy practice.
CLO 2) Students will perform common standardized and nonstandardized assessments utilized in OT practice.
CLO 3) Students will demonstrate beginning competency in the documentation of OT intervention, progress, and treatment according to established guidelines to communicate the need and rationale for occupational therapy services.
CLO 4) Students will apply foundational assessment and intervention skills in the context of patient treatment sessions.
CLO 5) Students will demonstrate good safety awareness, ethical behavior, and body mechanics in the context patient occupational performance.
CLO 6) Students will clearly articulate and successfully demonstrate all aspects of competency in performing fundamental skills.
